How it happened

A Foundation is born

What all Steria employees have in common is their professional activity and their desire for professional growth. As we work together every day, human relationships are formed through teamwork and the solidarity resulting from shared accomplishments. These values have always been major elements in the corporate life at Steria.

We wondered if it was possible to go a collective step further by committing the company to community projects.

When this idea was spontaneously suggested at a meeting, it resulted in immediate interest and the unanimous feeling that worthy and even essential actions should be implemented. Many Steria employees decided it was a valid idea and the Steria Foundation came into being.

First, it was necessary to investigate the concept of a foundation in more detail, get information about rules and regulations, find financing, draw up the basic principles, study the project's feasibility and agree upon the purpose of the Steria Foundation. A small group of men and women from Steria worked together, exchanged ideas and came up with the initial program.

On 6 April 2001, Jean Carteron, founder of Steria, signed the agreement creating the Steria - Institut de France Foundation with the Institut de France Chairman, Pierre Messmer.

Since January 1st, 2006, Mr. Gabriel de Broglie, member of the French Academy and of the Academy of Political Sciences is Chairman of the Institut de France and  Mr. Pierre Messmer is Honorary Chairman.
