Proposing more varied and accessible on-line services |
New technologies, and especially the Internet, offer a host of opportunities to blind and partially-sighted people for reading, keeping up-to-date, training, gaining knowledge or even just entertainment. The GIAA's goal is to offer visually-impaired people the resources to be able to take part in these intellectual activities. By printing in Braille or recording all kinds of audio material on request, the GIAA is thus helping visually-impaired people to study, seek employment or do their job and access culture in general. This initiative relies on the commitment of thousands of volunteers. |

In response to the ongoing development of new technologies and to the changing needs of its members, the GIAA has decided to improve its information exchange capabilities and access to its services.
The Foundation's contribution is in part financial, to create a portal offering information as well as a wide range of services that can be accessed by the visually impaired. |

The Foundation is committed to the GIAA. |
| The project is sponsored by a Steria volunteer, Thierry, who supports the association team through its implementation. Indeed, the team has already been able to draw on his experience in drawing up specifications to select a service provider for the project. A Steria consultant, Cédric, who specialises in accessibility issues has joined Thierry in his work and will assist the team during the different stages of the project. |

With the support of the Foundation, the charity now has an accessible Internet site with on-line services, such as the catalogue of existing Braille, large-print or CD publications with a special reservation service. Training of the staff in Paris and in the regions also proved useful as the trainees became trainers themselves for the regional delegation. |
