The Foundation provides support to VECV in the following areas:

the development of projects improving children's lifestyle and learning. The "e-recess" project is now under way. The goal is to provide an e-space where the children can play and interact with others to make them feel less isolated. Two volunteers are in charge of testing educational game portals providing non-violent games which will encourage the children to discover new horizons through the Internet, interact with others, and participate in forums. These volunteers then make their proposals to the association. An increasing number of children will be using the e-recess in the coming weeks.

provision and installation of computers. About twenty computers have already been or will soon be delivered.

advice on the educational infrastructures and tools that the association uses. A study was conducted by a voluntary consultant from Steria on the association's management system needs in terms of generating student files, teacher and student timetables, activity follow-up and archives. Project volunteers will start designing IT tools at the beginning of the summer.

About ten Steria volunteers, co-ordinated by a sponsor, will be involved in the project.

February 2002 - a voluntary sponsor among the Steria staff

Loyal to its principles, the Foundation has found help from a voluntary sponsor among the Steria staff. This person has the necessary professional skills in the field and has offered to use them to serve the VECV.

Pascal, Account Manager for the Steria Group, has been working on the project since September 2001.

What progress has the Foundation's first project made so far ?
" The project start-up: the first contacts were made with the members of the VECV.
A team of ten volunteer employees, from different entities of the Steria Group met for the first time on Friday 12 October. We looked at our skills and decided what each person could contribute to the project. Ideas came together and everyone was eager to act!

What approach was chosen ?
We specified needs in a first meeting with the association's staff. We also visited several pupils to define these needs more precisely. The next step is to start buying the equipment and then install it.

To be continued… "
